Welcome to the Assistance Service Dog Educational Center,  lovingly called ASDEC by our students and volunteers.  Founded in 2002 by Gerald and Donna Whittaker (right), ASDEC trains and provides service dogs to clients with needs such as mental or physical disabilities, medical conditions such as seizures or diabetes, or veterans with PostTramatic Stress Disorder, (PTSD). ASDEC has placed over 400 dogs since inception and has placed dogs in their forever home in over 30 states.

Our dogs are trained to perform a combination of 90 commands to assist their clients in leading a more independent life with their disability.

Our volunteers help train these dogs to do such things as:

  • Turn lights on and off
  • Open and close doors
  • Retrieve items from places like the refrig erator or dryer.
  • Pick up dropped items like: leash, keys, crutches or coins.

We teach kids, to train dogs, to help people.

If you are in interested in obtaining a service dog, or volunteering, please contact us at (559) 564-PAWS (7297).
